Church Constitution

The legal name of our church is Westlakes Independent Baptist Church Incorporated. We are incorporated under the Associations Act. The Bible tells us to do everything decently and in order, and in our day, we believe that having a constitution and the sort of legal recognition that we have as an association, is an appropriate way to achieve that.

We are Baptists by conviction, holding to the traditional Baptist distinctives. As Baptists hold to the autonomy of the local church, we have taken that to heart, and therefore we are not a part of the Baptist Union of Australia or any other official denominational body. Christ is the head of our church, not a human organisation.
